Music for Youth is a national music education charity which provides free access to performance and audience opportunities for young musicians across the UK through its annual season of festicals and concerts.
Each year, Music for Youth puts out an open call for ensembles of 200 – 600 young musicians to participate as one of the Massed Ensembles in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in November.
In January 2014, South Riverside Music Partnership submitted an expression of interest to form a massed ensemble, were shortlisted, and following an interview, were selected as one of the three massed ensembles out of 25 applications from across the UK to perform in the Schools Prom.
The Schools Prom is a 3 night concert series, and in addition to the Massed Ensemble performances (different on each night), will feature performances by some of the most talented musicians from across the UK. All other performers are invited to perform based on their participation in the National Festivals in Birmingham and Scotland in Summer 2014.
The other two massed ensembles on 10th & 11th November will be Calderdale Music Hub and Greater Manchester Music Hub.
SRMP are delighted to be awarded this prestigious opportunity for our young musicians to work alongside and be inspired by each other, whilst performing at a world class venue.
